Liz and Jerry Henson
We began planning our new adventure when we first discovered La Veta. The area has exceeded our expectations and fulfilled many of our dreams, including La Veta Real Estate and Second Chance Ranch.
My wife and I relocated to La Veta from Steamboat Springs. We were looking for a small friendly town in Southern Colorado. We wanted a mountain area of beauty and tranquility, where newcomers felt welcome. A rural setting but still with convenient access to larger urban areas. We found it all, in La Veta. And so can you.
In Steamboat for 10 years, I was involved in real estate and business investments including Soda Creek Western Mercantile and Schaefer Outfitter. Prior to that we spent many years in Santa Fe, where I served as President of Bank of Santa Fe. My other activities included serving as a Director of Bank of Albuquerque, the Santa Fe Economic Development Council, The State Business Development Council on Venture Capital and other Boards and Committees in both the Public and the Private sector.
I have lived the past 20 years here in Colorful Colorado. Originally from New Mexico, in Santa Fe my background included banking, finance, business and real estate investments. I now use that experience to help people find and secure the property of their dreams. Having lived in mountain resort areas before, I am familiar with the many aspects of rural mountain living.
As an experienced broker who understands rural Colorado, you will find me to be knowledgeable in the many aspects of mountain property. You'll learn why there are so many 35-acre parcels in Colorado and how a 'water right' is different from a 'well permit'. Elevations, wildlife, roads and snow all need to be balanced with client wants and needs, then factored into your own use and lifestyle. My knowledge of Colorado conservation easements, financing options, water rights and minerals are becoming more important every day. I enjoy guiding buyers through all of these important issues, "It's a different kind of lifestyle and I relate to my clients in helping them find the property that will best suit their wants and needs. I hope you will give me an opportunity to help YOU too.
Now in my thirteenth year of La Veta/Cuchara real estate, I have consistently been a "Top Producer". I work real estate full-time/year-round here in the valley area, using my past experience and contacts to better serve my clients needs. Personal recreation time is limited in the summer, but I do enjoy riding our horses and an occasional round of golf. I pride myself on friendly customer service with property knowledge, honesty and integrity.
After four years of operating her antique, gifts and flower shop here in La Veta, Liz made the decision to close shop in December 2005. With the completion of our new home in the Huajatolla Valley, she decided to spend more time at home gardening, tending to our personal business and to assist me in the real estate business. With her business background, she brings much to my marketing, advertising and personal liaison with clients.
Liz has continued to also serve on the Boards of Directors for the La Veta/Cuchara Chamber of Commerce and the International Celtic Festival. Her creative side will continue to be nurtured by pursuing different art mediums and decorating our new rental cabins in Cuchara (Little Creek Cabin). It's a darling little cabin situated on a beautifully treed lot on Little Creek. Completely furnished, so just bring your suitcase, a fine bottle of wine and lot's of good books. And we also now own Lucy's Place in La Veta. It too is very clean and cozy, just blocks from downtown shopping.
